Motorola XPR 7550E as a monitor only radio

Was thinking about buying a Motorola XPR 7550E to use as a DMR digital type scanner, not to talk on. I have a unication g5 with DMR but only does tir 2 and not digital.
I have a BC436Hp and not that happy with it. Could I monitor commercial systems with it or not. Thanks for the feed back.

Tier 2 DMR is digital.

DMR is digital... tier 1, 2, or 3. My G5 does tier 1 and 2 fine, I do not have anything to test with Tier 3.

digital conventional, yes as long as you know the frequency, color code, timeslot, and group id. don't bother if the system uses RAS as you would need to know the RAS key. you won't be able to monitor connect plus or I believe capacity max.

I know Uni Gx will decode RAS if you click repeater mode.

I'd still recommend a scanner to scan the Cap +
A scanner will do a lot more than the xpr and you wont be limited to 16 on the scan list

Plus a scanner is MUCH EASER TO PROGRAM
