• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am having issues reading a couple of radios I have. They are XTL2500 and when I did a search I was told I needed APX CPS R34.00.00 software which I downloaded from My View but every time I try to read the radio it tells me it cannot see or talk to the radio. I am using my USB cable that plugs into the front of the radio(Same cable I use on my XPR 4550 radios).
Is this a cable issue or a software issue?
Thank you for any assistance with this.

APX CPS will never work on an XTL, you need ASTRO25 Mobile CPS.

Are these XTL's or APX's? Two very different radios. The XTL's require Astro25 Mobile CPS, while the APX's require APX CPS, which looks like what you downloaded. Cable wise, you'd need the HKN6184C.

I am having trouble getting the Astro25 to pull up on my customer hub. I found Mototrbo CPS 25. Any suggestions Sir.

It is no longer supported you will have to find it elsewhere
Years ago I found Astro25 mobile cps on a Russian site. It downloaded fine then about halfway through the install the hard drives ramped up faster than I have seen and I quickly yanked the internet connection and shut down. My desktop was possessed for about a month until I finally cleaned out all the evil things it ingested, it was even in the bios. Be careful where you look for this kind of stuff.

If you buy the HKN6184 Programming Cable from Bluemax 49ers, they will send you the link so you can download the Motorola Astro 25 Mobile R20.01.00 CPS.

Their cables are a very good quality and I have never heard a compliant by anyone regarding their products and quality level of customer service. I have numerous Bluemax cables for several Motorola vintage and current radios, Kenwood, and some I hate to admit, CCR POSs.
