• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello, I am using a Moto XTL2500 on both P25 and Analog. Sounds great on any P25 ch, however when receiving on a analog ch, the sound quality is horrible. Very "tinny, glassy" and distorted, almost sounds like the volume is turned up to much with a poor speaker. However it will do this at any volume setting. Can anyone help??????

I know there are audio tone adjustment settings in CPS for digital but I can't remember at this hour of the day if there is tone adjustment for analog. Have you checked in CPS for those?

I disabled hear clear, it helped a lot. It still has that sound to it. I'm thinking it's something I'm just going to have to get used to.

Make sure all the other personalities even the p25 ones the hear clear is disabled I noticed in scan it may allow other personalities hear clear option to be on even though the one isn't hear clear while scanning. I noticed sometimes other users using hear clear it comes through as your describe. We tried it before and didn't like hear clear we brung back all out radios in and disabled hear clear on every portable mobile and in every personality. Depending on where you got your radio surplus or lol I have a idea it's probs a bad speaker. You could try using a external speaker see if there is any change or replace the existing. If it's new from a dealer or /\/\ then I'm not sure I know the newer radios aren't completely like the older ones with audio. The apx even with all options disabled for audio has a different sound to it in a sense if you lived with radios your whole life on a daily basis you can tell.
