To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey all,

Was wondering does anyone know how to activate the Long Beep PTT Mic Keyup Tone for a Motorola XTL5000? Software I'm using is Astro25 Mobile R20.01.00 CPS Programming Software.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Pre mdc with pre ptt tone?

If that's what you're referring to in the mdc personality select pre with long sidetone in the mdc conventional tab, over the post mdc.

There is short tone and long tone in the mdc configuration which keeps user from talking too soon.

Ideally yes or something similar to that. As long as I essentially am able to get a long sidetone with the mic click. Unfortunately I wasn't
able to find the MDC conventional tab. If you could give me a lead on how I could access this that would be great! I did attach a screenshot of my tree view if that helps.

Its under MDC System
You want to check Leading PTT-ID, along with either PTT ID Sidetone or PTT ID Short Sidetone. And then under the Conventional Personality menu make sure that under the Signalling tab you select MDC as the signalling type.
