• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

It cannot be an AN with an 8meg board. Someone has done some finger plucking. I have had ONE exception to this rule, and it came from the Depot. They subbed a BN board into an AN frame on a flat rate repair because they were out of AN boards, then proceeded to force the AN programming into it which caused ALL kinds of issues. I sent it back and made the Depot replace the housing with the correct BN housing. (and a blank load so it could be programmed correctly)

Reading the Config through CPS it does say 4meg. Powering up the radio and pressing the bottom side button 5 times, it reads 8meg on the radio. How would I fix this? I didn't flash it. I would need firmware.

An analog mode set for Mixed Mode Receive with encryption enabled will transmit in encrypted digital.

Check your Conventional Personality's Secure tab. Secure/Clear strapping should be set to Clear if you have no intention of using Secure on your analog channel.

all the personalities are locked to Clear.

Your radio has a major issue that cannot be corrected through normal methods. If you recently purchased this radio or had it serviced at a Motorola repair depot SEND IT BACK, it is buggered. If you bought from a private party, get your money back, the time and effort needed to fix this turkey isn't worth it. Someone did not know what they were doing. With a mismatch at the base hardware level where the codeplug and the self test report two different things, the embedded firmware is going to be sending commands to components that are NOT where they are supposed to be.

Get your money back.

You are miss reading the original post. The radio its self is keying 5 times then flashing "secure".
Sounds like it's trying to get acknowledgement from a server or machine/repeater. You probably have something set that gets the radio to connect via a server? I forget what it's called but I know exactly what your radio is doing.
