• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

The only legal way is to buy it from motorola. Even if someone has it on your department, by motorola's copyrights they can not give it to you. They can program it for you though.

Now that being said, if you look in the right places it can be found in the wild.

I was under the impression that motorola sold the software to our department for our use and any of us are allowed to program the radios. Well, per motorola anyways--Chief would have a fit if he found out we were just reprogramming radios willy-nilly.

If your department has authorization to use the software, I believe anyone that works in that department can use it.

Yes, If ABC FD bought the software and has the motorola CPS. Anyone on that FD can use it to program radios. If ABC FD firefighter Smith burns a copy and gives it to Firefighter Jones then by Motorolas software rights thats not allowed. Im not saying its not done.. We all know it is.

the XTS3000/astro saber are no longer supported by Motorola. They are old models. They did allow it for that reason. It was taken off MOL but then added back when it was found to be still under the 5 year since EOL of the Astro series radio. After 5 years ALL support ends and parts and support is limited to whats on hand.

Motorola did at one time discontinue it, then started licensing it again. Once P25.ca realized Motorola was selling licenses AGAIN they pulled it.

You could have got it for free from P25 Forums but someone over there eventially realized it was still available for purchase from Motorola and removed it from their software download forum. Wonder how they missed that one! :p

Yea, and then I got an "infraction" on that site for telling someone I could program his radio for him. Haven't been back to the nazi site since.

They kicked me off of there for just mentioning the fact that they had in the past offered free CPS for download when it was still avialable for purchase thru motorola. Whatever...I don't care. I still go back as a non contributor and pilage information as needed. I think sometimes their tukes are too tight!:p

At least amongst the mayhem that occurs on this site at times one can have a disagreement with a moderator and not get banned over it.

I got banned simply for bring up that Astro CPS was still being sold on MOL. Also brought up that quantar eeproms are still being sold, and their crazy mod team put me on a "global ban". I could post and reply to any thread, but the rest of the world would NEVER see my posts.

"Wah, I got banned from another forum!"

...how does this help the OP get his XTS3000 programmed, again?

Oh, wait, it doesn't.

tmorris, what WuLabsWuTecH said is correct. Just tell them you're a self supporting end user or the like when they send you the questionnaire to open your MOL account.

The Astro CPS from MOL costs around $300 per year. Portable Astro and Mobile Astro CPS are different software packages, so if you need both, then be prepaired to drop around $600 for both.

You got banned from over there because you failed to complete a transaction with another member, in other words you stole from that guy in Canada and have yet to complete that deal. Fess up. Complete the deal and they will reinstate you.

xts3000 not true. All Moto software is a three year subscription and during that three years if their are any upgrades to the software, then you recieve a free upgrade mailed to you.

At the end of the three years then unless you renew, you do not recieve the upgrades.

As for the P25.ca site, I to have found that the mods are kind of weird as what is ok for some people is not ok for others.

Also, I have heard that the site was designed for trunking and digital information, but after a lot of reading thu the site I have found that it is a 'how, what, when' on moto equipment.

A friend of mine tryed to ask a question on digital in general and he got rejected and banned, and was told not to try and come back

Motorola is moving away from mailing CDs now for subscriptions and is slowly converting everyone to online downloads. Most of the newer software only fits on a DVD anyway. Astro25, APX, GTR are all larger than what will burn to a CD.

When you subscribe you should always open an MOL account as the updates are always posted well before you receive an update in the mail.

My screen name was not XTS3000 on P25! I was BANNED well over a month ago, so I can't post or participate there, so how could I steal from members there? You have me (XTS3000) on RR mixed up with some other "XTS3000" member. Please get your facts straight before posting complete false information - thanks.

My apologies if that is the case. You don't live in Reno, then, I take it? You are correct. I just looked at my PMs. I have you cornfused with another person with an almost exact user name that is also banned at P25. Funny huh? Wonder why?
