Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all,
Just wondering what a double chirp means after transmitting on an XTS 5000 and should I be worried about it occurring. A video which is linked here: (XTS5000DoubleChirp.MOV) shows the double chirp in action after transmitting.

It means the battery is dying...see the flashing battery indicator? Time to replace the battery, it clearly can't hold a full charge if it's going from "full" to flashing empty after transmitting.

Looking at the battery page on the radio it says.
It has a rated capacity% of 80
Rem capacity of 2451
EST CHGS 567

Then how come I can receive with no issue and when I transmit I get an issue? Looking at the battery page it looks fine to me.

The radio requires much more current when transmitting, triggering the audible alert.
This has been Motorola’s battery alert since the GP300 and probably earlier.

Because as stated above, the radio draws very little amperage when receiving vs transmitting. A battery with a bad cell can look perfectly fine on the battery screen, and can probably operate just fine for receive-only.

Good thing I just found out how to turn it off under alert tones in CPS.
Which doesn't solve the underlying issue, which is that your battery has a bad cell and should be replaced if you care about having a reliable battery. I've seen this dozens of times with XTS 5000 batteries.

I used to see after market batteries have good standby voltage, but significant voltage drop on PTT. Enough where the radio would not transmit. Release PTT, and radio would RX just fine. The point is standby battery/voltage status is not an indication of battery health. Swap the battery with a known good battery. If problem follow battery, issue confirmed.
