• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I don't know if this is the correct place for this but I am looking for some help with the Motorola xts2500 programming software. I have installed the software to my computer but when I attempt to open it a message comes up saying "can't find file specified". If any one knows how to fix this situation or can send me to the correct forum for this that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I moved your question to its own thread where it will probably get more exposure.

Well here comes the start of the questions if you want it to work.

What operating system is on the computer?

What is the computer, 32 bit or 64 bit?

Does it have a serial port or only USB ports?

Where did you obtain the Motorola software from?

If it is on an original Motorola CD, then uninstall it and try again.

If you acquired it from some other source then you just cut off all support.

Even if you downloaded it from MOL you can uninstall and reinstall the software.

I have windows 7 64bit, it is a laptop so USB only, and I received it from a friend. If it is the case that he does not have the software directly from Motorola then I will just go ahead and get it my self and uninstall the one I have.

I assume you only have one hard drive and not 5 like me. If that's true then go here in computer:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Motorola\ASTRO 25 Products\ASTRO 25 Portable CPS

Once your there find the patport.exe file and run it. If it works then your shortcut is simply broken, so just right click on patport.exe and create new shortcut.

No that did not work. I may just get a copy for myself from Motorola before the radio is discontinued. Thanks for the help.
