• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Greetings all, I just bought a Motorola XTS3000 VHF model III with full key off of eBay. It came with a cable (not sure if it is ribbed or Ribless, but anyways I was told that the MTS2000 software would work with the XTS3000. It then told me when I read the radio that it was "incompatible software". Before I go buy CPS from eBay, I put the radio in service mode, I then discovered that it's latest version was R07.14.00 but all I can find on eBay is r05.xx.xx. Is this the right software I should purchase? I don't want to run into a roadblock. I want to listen to my local sheriffs office that is on P25 Phase I and program my radio to the local repeater, MURS Freqs, and neighboring counties sheriffs office (155.6250 Analog). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Note: I do have a MTS2000 on 800MHz but I could never figure out how to program, so I sold it to a friend.

That software will not work. You need software for xts3000/Astro saber. Someone will chime in with the part numbers I'm sure. Problem is in obtaining it, as I believe it's no longer available from Moto.

but anyways I was told There's your first problem. Better to verify with a reliable source before buying anything.

Second, the version of the radio and the version of the CPS are not directly related. A lower version CPS doesn't necessarily meant that it is not the right CPS to use. It also doesn't mean that it isn't the latest version either. Basically, it's apples and oranges

It is always a good idea to determine the most recent version of a CPS before making any purchase of programming software. A little bit of internet searching will turn up that info. I am not an XTS3000 user so it's not something that I keep current on, but there are good info sources out there.

Just realize that it is always "buyer beware" when purchasing from any source other than the original. I know that this particular CPS is NLA from Motorola and I am not being the software police, but simply urging you to use caution when buying, especially when buying from an Ebay seller.

By not demanding that E-bay remove the ads, it means they don't care. The seller has over 3500 sales, & 100% feedback. Wouldn't you think that if Moto disapproved of these sales, they would be taken down? Especially since they no longer sell the CPS. One phone call to E-bay would stop these sales, but yet the call is never made. So since Moto doesn't care, people assume it must be OK.

The revision numbers you found for the firmware is not the same as the revision number of the programming software.

As others have said, the software is no longer available from Motorola. While technically not legal for sale, the software you have found on eBay will likely work. If you have strong Google-fo, you may find it online as well.

So when did Motorola declare that it's OK to sell CPS on ebay?

Show me that authorization and I'll sell it myself!

There have been pages and pages of CPS sales like this on Ebay for quite some time now.

It sure does beat paying $295 for an "authorized" copy. Ha!!!

UPDATE: I found the software on eBay, and got the radio programmed. I kinda figured out how to program the radio myself, have local repeaters, and county/state police programmed on RX only. Thanks guys!
