• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

setting a mototrbo radio system for work and I'm wondering what everyone is using for audio settings?
repeater is an slr5700 running firmware R02.10.00.12
subscribers are xpr3500e running firmware R02.10.09.0001
currently the audio profile is setup as the following, intelligent audio response disabled, language default, enviroment loud, preference treble boost, digital af suppressor unchecked, noise suppressor enhanced auto, trill enhancement unchecked, digital & analog audio leveling checked, analog & digital mic agc checked.
Radios will be used in a hospital enviroment ranging from a quiet patient room to being next to a running air compressor. I'm familiar with how dmr sounds and think theres room for improvement in the current settings just not sure which settings will get me there. thinking about using digital af suppressor since sometimes workers are in close proximity and feedback would be an issue.

I work in a *very* loud industrial environment. Still in analog but have done testing with DMR with the xpr 3300/3500 with both Noise Cancelling and winporting RSM's. In very loud areas, it was impossible to talk loud enough to transmit ok audio with enhanced auto noise suppressor. In my case, using basic noise suppression with winporting RSM seemed to work the best. The noise cancelling RSM seems to fight radio onboard noise cancelling. WIth the 3500e, you should be able to change environment/preference on the keypad and test it. Digital RX audio leveling seemed to be extremely important.

I guess, where do you see people to be spending most of their time?

not using an rsm. As far as where employees are spending most of their time depends on the trade, day-shift maintenance mechanics are mostly in patient rooms, hallways, offices but evening and night shift are in and out of machine rooms quit frequently. hvac and pm mechanics are mostly in machine rooms. as far as what can be changed on the fly thats only mic agc trill enhancement and af suppressor everything else like preference and noise suppressor need a write to the radio to be changed.

apparently there was an issue when i enabled all the menu items in the radio it wouldn't take, I had to take the original blank code plug and build it from scratch and I am now able to edit the noise canceling and preference buy using the menu.

Go here Communications.Support and look in the Mototrbo area, they have some great info on properly programming Mototrbo
