• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am installing Mototrbo CPS V 14.0 Build 717 on my Panasonic toughbook laptop running XP 32 bit. Once the install is complete and I click on the icon, I get this error:
C:\Program Files\Motorola\MOTOTRBO CPS\mototrbocps.exe is not a validWin32 application

What exactly is this about?

I have version 10 on XP now, this is an upgrade, so I guess I need to switch over to Win 7 then.
Thank you both for your replies.

TRBO definitely not supported on anything less than Win7. Also, Build 717 is no good. Motorola released build 738 about a week after 717 came out. Download the newest CPS.

Unfortunately a few releases ago Motorola stopped supporting Windows XP and Vista. Happened to me with the apx software too. So you will need windows 7 or above to run the latest CPS from moto for pretty much any current line od radios they are still releasing CPS for.

I ran into this a while back with my older Panasonic CF-72 running WinXP x32 as well. So now it is a dedicated older radio programming computer. R10 Trbo CPS and earlier are on the Panasonic. R11 CPS and newer is on the Itronix x64 Win7 laptop.

APX does need Win7 or newer as well. Good info, and so I now label each laptop on which radios I can program with them. A very old Toshiba is for RSS DOS radio programming. I use semi rugged computers mostly as they still come with serial ports.

Anything over Version 11 won't work on XP, have to have at least 7 or 8 for that.

MotoTrbo 10.8 is the last for XP

Motorola stopped CPS support after 10.8. Anything before that, your fine. The newest version released is 15.0 and you must have Win 7 or higher.
