• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Trying to load up an wideband entitlement key, and keep getting an error that CPS was unable to contact the license server. I did a fresh install of CPS from MOL on another device and tried another network just to be sure and got the same error. This was over the course of 2 days, did M disable the license validation for CPS 16?

I was able to input the entitlement ID and click next at which point it shows that it is the wideband ID, when I go to click next again it throws the same error. So I did get further than I did before, but not all the way there. I will try on my other computer later but not looking promising.

We're you able to log into connect.motorasolutions.com?
Is the wide band EID valid for your CPS? Did it fail once you connected the radio? If so, have you adjusted your route metric? TT

From what I read on another group they have phased out the auth server for CPS 16 as of a few days ago. My keys are brand new from the day I made this thread.

I see, thank you! Looks like they are trying to stop people like Ken Bryant from selling free wideband entitlement keys for like 40 bucks a pop.
No you got that wrong.. He sells his customer support for $40 the key is still free....LOL

Any update/resolution on this? I am experiencing the exact same issue. Fresh install of CPS 16.0 Build 828, new/never used before/legitimate HKVN4046A Wideband EID provided from MOL, and I was able to successfully log into the MSI Authentication Portal with my MOL login credentials.

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

CPS 2. Is enough to keep me away from Moto DMR radios (which I like) if any other brand will work on system. I’d say more but it would go on for pages and I’d end up sobbing with a gun in my mouth..

Well, this is disappointing news. I have TRBO CPS2 installed as well, but have an XPR7550e and (2) CM300d mobiles that have not had the codeplug files updated, and were still able to be written with (the much preferred) CPS16. I guess I'm going to have to finally convert them over to CPS2.

Thanks for the insight, group.

There is literally 0 benefit in "upgrading" to CPS2. Anyone that's used it for more than 5 minutes knows this
When you do it professionally you have no choice.. Things change and upgrade..as much as people may not like

I also prefer 2.0 ... Because once you get used to it it's fine.. I actually convert our older codeplugs that are in 16 to 2.0 just so I can use them

Another update for the group, I just tried to use my recently issued 25kHz EID to unlock wideband functionality in TRBO CPS2 (Ver. 2.128.144.0) and received the exact same "Unable to contact the license server" error that I have been receiving in 16.828. Again, I successfully logged into the MSI Authentication Portal, disabled my firewall, and no joy. Perhaps CPS2 and CPS16 both point to a common authentication server, which is currently offline. While it's unfortunate I can't unlock wideband in either version right now, this may mean there is still hope for feature unlocking new installs of 16 if it is indeed a shared server that just happens to offline this weekend. I'm going to give it a few days before I reach out to MSI for help.

Have you tried going to somewhere with public wifi and trying to enable it? Just to make sure it really isn't your network settings

Great suggestion! Just disconnected my Surface from my home network and connected to the internet via my iPhone hotspot (Verizon). Unfortunately, no change, attempted to load the EID in both Ver. 16 and Ver. 2, same "license server error" on both.
