If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi everybody,

We are using MotoTRBO DP series radios with VHF frequencies, and the frontal LED is blinking from time to time with Green color even if there was no one PTTing.

The scanning feature is not enabled, so what could be the reason that the radio blinks, does that mean it is detecting activity on near by channels and not the active channel? or could it be an interference on the same channel?

I have looked into some resources

Many Thanks!

I'm not that familiar with TRBO radios, but I am familiar with DMR. Most DMR radios use a green LED to indicate that the radio is receiving something. It is entirely possible that there could be other conversations on the same frequency, but if they are using a different talkgroup or color code, you would typically not hear them. It is also possible that your radio is seeing strong interference of some type on the frequency.

Could be a signal below the squelch level, an analog signal assuming you are on DMR, a signal that does not have the right CTCSS/DCS tone if you are on analog, the repeater sending out various pings, etc. There are a lot of things it can be.

Go to analog, disable all CTCSS/DCS tones, and open the monitor so you hear a bunch of static. You should be able to hear what it is.

Thank you all for the explanations and suggestions, I will make sure to do some investigation to find out what it is exactly.

On our system the repeater transmits a data burst every 10 seconds. When this occurs the light blinks green. If your on a repeater this could be the case or it could also be what anyone mentioned above.
