• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Mototrbo Scan Issue

I am experiencing a scan issue across multiple radios that has me pulling my hair out. I have several subscriber radios (portables and mobiles). Among the several channels programmed are two tactical channels: one channel is freq 460.xxxx CC 9 on TS 1 on a repeater with RAS enabled. RAS is verified to be enabled with the correct key. The other channel is same freq and CC, but in TS 2. When scanning, if a transmission occurs on the channel using TS 1, the receiving radios hear the transmission just fine while scanning. When a transmission occurs on TS 2, the it’s as if the Scan List ignores the transmission completely. Both channels are included in the Scan List. If you take the receiving radio(s) out of Scan mode, it hears the transmission just fine. What am I missing here???

Do you have the channel themselves assigned to the scan list in the zone?

You can put a channel in the scan list under the scan section of CPS, but you also have to assign it to the channel within the zone.

Yes it is set up identical to the other channel that’s on TS1. Nothing is different. It just will not scan this channel. I’ve been programming these radios for 14 years and I’ve never had one do this.

@Async there are a handful of models involved here. Most are XPR4550 mobiles and XPR3500 portables. I have the same issue across the board. As long as you’re not scanning, you can hear all radio traffic on the channel. If you are scanning it WILL NOT stop on that channel. It’s programmed the same as every other channel. I spent hours trying to find some dumb programming error and I finally gave up. I was wondering if the RAS had anything to do with it, but that doesn’t make any sense either to me.

Not sure if the ras key is sent all though out the transmission. But its possible that while the device is scanning its missing the part of the transmission that says hey here is the ras key pass the audio.
Similar to how 2 tone wont work in scan mode if it misses any of the initial 2 tone info. It cant decode it properly and then open the speakers. Just my guess.

Yes I wondered about that. My next step is to remove the RAS from the repeater and see if that’s the issue. I just don’t understand why it works perfectly on one TS but not the other. I hate to have to reprogram all those radios if that’s what it turns out to be, but if it is, so be it.
