Our PD is switching to a MotoTURBO system. I do not know the details of the system, but, if possible, I'd like to know what kind of scanner will pick this up? I have a Pro 96, but I feel that may be inadequate. Of course, I don't want to spend $500 for a scanner that is useless to me. I don't know if this new system is encrypted. I know if it's encrypted there is not a scanner for hobbyists that will unscramble it. Our FD went to MotoTURBO and I can no longer pick them up. New frequency?

You will need a TRBO radio and access to any encryption information if they are utilizing that.

If it's not encrypted, you can listen to it via a radio with a discriminator tap and the software DSD. The GRE PSR 800 digital scanner has a built in IF out and will work with the software to monitor non encrypted TRBO. DSD/mbelib run on Linux. You can easily set up a Windows/Linux dual boot on your computer.
