The Walmart where I live in mountain view Arkansas has went from analog to system fusion digital radios. I don't know what frequency they use just thought that was pretty neat.

With many stores having their own "teknishun" self appointed it wouldn't surprise me local management went out bought xyz and figured we can use this or this. I've seen other retailers do this. As long as they can program in murs all they know is this is our frequency they don't care.
Not Fusion, no.
Possibly went to the new smartphone with PTT functionality that Walmart has partnered with a provider to use. If so, no monitoring that as far as I know.
I do know what youre saying is factual. There is some out there though wanting to do their own thing I noticed apart from the corporate scheme.Actually it’s coordinated by corporate regardless of what you believe is the case. The BTech radios Many stores started using, for example, was through a coordinated purchase between corporate and BTech.
I noticed a few stores using the phone ptt with limited use for management or computer. Others heavily still using the murs stuff or dtr.

I know its been more than a few years since the RDM2070d was discontinued, then I heard some stores were going to the DTRs or whatever model, then came in the cell phones/work app for all associates with PTT.I’m sure some workers bring their own radio, yeah. Wouldn’t be surprised. I see what you were saying now. But each store is not autonomous was my point.
They rely on the old tried and true murs.
It’s actually the me@walmart app that has the two way radio/texting function. It has to be opened but usually is while at work because we also clock in/out, scan items, and change onhands with me@walmart. The two way function is not reliable. Sometimes you’ll instantly hear the message other times you’ll get a pop up saying you have a message. Same with texting function. I’ve texted and the associate told me he didn’t get it until he was leaving for the day. That’s why I say murs will be around for awhile. It’s so much easier for a coach to tell Bob to clean up a mess on the radio and know it’ll be done quicklyMore than likely until the old RDM2070d's are thrown out from being broken, or taken by associates that quit and listed on ebay. Then they'll be hold outs with baofengs and those that buy their own on ebay. Do the new phones have "permanent background" walkie talkie function or does it need to be opened in an app each time the phone is turned on? When I worked there, it was really only salaried management who used them the most, then customer service and maybe a backroom manager who was being asked how the truck was doing. Even tho some department managers had them most were not on the radio. The Notes app had a lot of usage too
Ahh I see some things haven't changed. I've heard they outsourced the programmers with the exception of a handful of actual techs at Bentonville, last time I heard the guy said there's maybe a few cubicles left, the rest outsourced to Ukraine or Poland. When I was there, we used GIF, pickup/picking app, it was atrocious, constant logging in/out, restarting, forcing updates, pulling batteries, changing TC70s, sometimes the tx70X's worked better than regular old tc70s, sometimes it was the reverse, etc It seemed each device had it owns demons. Surpsingly, the old MC40 was one of the most reliable but slowwwww as paint drying...... Just before I left they integrated the two apps, but we usually used the old ones because reliability was so bad. I swear it was every update something failed one way or another. Notifications coming hours later. Constant failures of the program leaving us with up to a hundred upset customers. Trying to deal with our internal system, then dealing with amount of complaints I received from customers made the job worthless. The company just never seemed to ever get it together. Good days were rarer that bad days it seemed, then on top of dealing with normal customer issues. I have to stop or else I could go on for hoursIt’s actually the me@walmart app that has the two way radio/texting function.
