I would like to mount a "holder" for a PRO-95 on the dashboard of my vehicle. I am looking for a mounting device that I can just place the radio into and easily remove it when I get out.

I'm trying to mount it towards the top of the AM/FM radio console so the rubber duck antenna is sticking up above the dash. I don't want it sitting "on top" of the dashboard.

I have seen photos posted in other threads with something that looks like a "vice grip" type holder that is adjustable. I'm guessing these are maybe meant for a PDA or Cellphone.

Where can I buy one?

i would try your local RS store... they MIGHT have something (if they can even understand what your trying to do...)

if all else fails... stop by a booth/store in the mall that cells accessories for ALL types of cell phones... they should carry something that will mount to your vehicle

Most are simply cell phone holders. You can pick them up at the local dollar store.

However I would go for something a little more sturdy than the dollar store variety for a 200 dollar scanner. (ok in your case 199.99  )

Also one thing I have used in the past are the heavier duty cellphone clips. The metal ones.

I mounted it to my pro-28 via the original clip mmounting location. The one I bought came with a belt holder and a flat one I could mount where I waned to. I ended up mounting it to the ceiling of the car so I could stick it there and still hear it over the 318 with no exhoust (is that spelled right?)

Hope this helps.

In a valley that only a few know where it is
I run around with 2 scanners in my truck; either 2 PRO 96's or 1 PRO 96 and a PRO 95.

I have been on a hunt to do something similar.

Last week at Radio Shack I noticed they have a universal cell phone holder on clearance for under 10 bucks. My Toyota is rich in cup holders so I bought one and it works good.

I also recently on E-Bay purchased 2 vent clip mobile radio holders for 7.99 I think they were.

With modern cell phones being lighter and smaller it is kind of tough to find a holder large enough for a portable radio.

You could spend crazy $$ and buy a Gripmatic mount.

Like most things it just depends on what you want to spend.

Good Luck!

I know that the RS 17-548 mentioned above will not fit a Pro-96 because I tried it, it does not open up enough.

I did find awhile ago the universal mount RS used to sell on sale somewhere and got it, it works but just barely. The problem is the belt clip on the back of the radio, it causes it to stick out too much to get a good grip on it, but usually works. The problem is finding them.

That's awesome! Love the home brew, with the rubber bumpers to keep the radio from bouncing around.
