Wanted to wait till my digital camera was working OK before showing my "homemade portable scanner mount" for most all vehicles. This one came to me by the way of having to rent different cars to make doctors trips "out of area" Of course in a rental, they yell, scream and say lots of bad words to you while charging you more money for a more permanent install.
One day after unloading the car, I found this little ‘vent clip holder” Well I quickly decided that it could & would be a good mount for my Pro96, it’s so easy to mount & remove that my wife allows me to use in her car (Ford Fusion). This mount has clips that slip over the top fin of the vents then the bottom is adjustable to allow the bottom of the radio to be angled for better viewing. I used 2 plastic zip ties to secure the radio, on the top to secure the belt clip & a larger one in the bottom holes to keep the radio from flopping around. I did use a drop of “super glue” on each of the pawl of the zip ties to keep them from moving.
The antenna is up above the dash quite a bit & picks up good in the area where I mostly run. I have yet to put my magnetic scanner antenna on the car yet to see how to route the cable for the best yet. One thing I like about this mount is that it can be removed & placed into another vehicle in a very y short amount of time. Hope this gives others ideas on scanner/radio mounting in their own vehicle as this also is handy for my 2 meter HT and you can see & operate the controls using your peripheral vision.
