GRE (RS) has determined what the step spacing will be for a frequency search range and you cannot change it. This has been a major complaint of mine about my GRE PSR600.

My quote should help resolve Matt's issue regarding step size.

I think Flexstep ON will allow 1.25 KHz stepping. OFF enforces fixed steps.

Zeromatic turned ON may also help.

However, from a fixed position your suggestion regarding antenna is best for receving towers at a distant range.
