Tg 1515

Looking at my scanner I have had TG 1515 for Barry County MDOT, but looking in the database I see that 1515 is showing as Van Buren County. Since I only have one scanner right now, if anyone listens to MDOT in the surrounding areas, let me know if you hear MDOT doing snow plowing in the Barry County area and which TG they are on.

I can get the Nashville & Plainwell towers pretty reliably where I'm at, so I'll plug this one in & see what I can come up with. (Of course, it would help to have some snow first! :( )

I see Berry Co. Mercy units have new Motorola APX6000 radios.
You mean Barry Co. :)
Yes they do, but are still being dispatched my Barry County Central Dispatch and not on the 800 system. Looks like Mercy units are just giving status and route info to Mercy HQ on the 800 system. Would be nice if Central would use the 800 system to dispatch them.

Hate to sound like a typically noob, but can someone in Michigan possibly help me set up my radio?

First one..

Radioshack Pro-164.. I'm completely clueless...

any idea when Sanilac jumping on the band wagon?

Sanilac County recently had their digital microwave backbone licenses approved by the FCC. The changeover to the MPSCS would all depend at what phase they currently are in on their construction schedule. I would say they should be online within the next 1-2 years.

This scanner will not monitor MPSCS. Start a thread in the Michigan forum, and someone might be willing to help.

I wonder if Wayne County is only doing two sites due to the prevalence of sites from other entities.

Not sure what you are asking?

Wayne County is only showing a two-tower simulcast, according to your post.

I am thinking that the county is only setting up those towers, since so much of the county is covered by other towers. (Washtenaw, Macomb, Monroe, Livonia, Detroit and the state tower in Northville.)

The MPSCS wants to add the following frequencies at various tower sites:

  • Genesee County Simulcast: 868.1500.
  • Flat Rock: 855.8625 (Will be shared with the Wayne County Simulcast System?)
  • Caro: 868.2500.
It will be interesting to see these new freqs. come online. Apparently, the are receiving busy signals on the Flat Rock tower lately. The same also applies to the Caro tower.

There is now a pending modification to license WQOI441, so an additional frequency of 866.6375 MHz, can be added to the Holly tower. Apparently, additional users will be coming online in the next several weeks that will require increased channel loading capacity at this site. Therefore, the MPSCS has decided to amend their current STA license.

MSP District 5

While monitoring on Friday morning (2/3/12), as MSP D5 units were checking in with Station 50 on REGD5S (TG 3068), I heard Station 50 tell them that they were having "volume issues" that were affecting the Niles Post area, & that all traffic would be switched to REGD5LEIN (TG 3007). They are still using D5LEIN as of today.

Not sure what "volume issues" would affect only one talkgroup for one post or one tower site, but that's what they said.

Also, REGD5N (TG 3067) has pretty much gone silent since about a month after the restructuring.

Probably, I do recall that popping up briefly on the Nashville tower when I was running HP1 through Unitrunker. D1N/S are permanently patched too.
