This site is now on the air. I heard it yesterday as I was driving through Ionia County. Control channel frequency is 868.5625 and is identifying as T0325 (337).

I did not hear any voice traffic on the site while passing through however.

Ionia County Sherrif has been on APCo-25 for a while. Now will they be on that tower? I would say yes. with this system you x-fer and receive on the closest tower. Just a guess as I don't know how they bring new towers online. Again I will do testing tonight

Same answer as before - no. Ionia City is going to MPSCS, the county is not. Ionia Sheriff has been on it for a while.

It costs a lot of money to transfer fire departments, especially when all are volunteer. There's no need for them to do it. Ionia City got a grant to pay for it, so since it's not a financial burden -- why not?

I saw on a meeting notes it was about $3500 per car radio. So think if a town has 20 cars.
$70,000. Not sure on cost of handheld radios.
And Remember, if a tower has problems and you can't connect to another tower. You are down. no signal, where the current radios still have x-mit and receive just at a shorter distance. That is why certain cities and towns don't want to change.

"You are down. no signal, where the current radios still have x-mit and receive just at a shorter distance. "

Incorrect - MPSCS radios also have the ability to go simplex (the I-Call channels) so that's not a factor.
