I have a pro-96 with a radioshack 7" 800mhz antenna on an external magnet mount on my vehicle. I have the control channels for Washtenaw, Wayne, Flat Rock, Northville, and Monroe programmed in and will pick these up when close. Van Burren Twp ( border of Wayne and Washtenaw counties) switched to the mpscs a while ago but I have a hard time picking them, or anyone else on the mpscs, up in the Twp. Does anyone have any ideas on a better antenna or setup that would help with the reception in this area as I know the signals must be here for the local PD and FD to use them. Thanks

Kind of odd that you're having a rough time picking VBT up if you got those programmed. Is your radio setting on P25 Auto or something to that effect?

I pick up the control channels, MSP, VBT, Sheriff, and others on MPSCS when I am near a tower like on 94 near metro airport. I just have a hard time picking them up in the township itself. I downloaded the control frequencies for my pro 96 from radioreference using win96. It shows them in the MOT receive mode.

I seen your OP and just went hmmm.
This time I mapquested what I went hmm about.
If you're in the center of VBT, you're just as close to the Flat Rock tower as I am.
I also have a Pro-96, with the Shack's 800 antenna.
And pick up MSP's Flat Rock control channel at 99% from inside the house.
