Tones but not tones? MPSCS Muskegon County Simulcast, Talkgroup 3902 (61P911) Police Dispatch on August 5th 2021 at 6:17:42AM, 6:23:21AM and throughout the morning.

I have heard tones come accross like this before, but this one wont stop. Its more of a blip than a tone, and its muffled alot more compared to the actual tone.

Screenshot below highlights one of the many instances of the tone sound.

Link provided is a an audio clip that starts with the weird blip then it is heard throughout.

Michigan counties bordering Indiana have site neighbors with those counties in Indiana.

Yea?... that's nothing new. Why only add one site?

Because one site is added? One site usually means one tower, but possibly multiple transmitters, antennas, and frequencies. Some counties only need one site, some have multiple for simulcast, but they can be added in any order

One of the 'tones' is an MDC1200 data burst. Either the talkgroup is patched to an analog channel or the cop was on an old analog portable using a mobile extender.

Marysville FD paging (tg 22334 and 22342) have been encrypted since mid June per DSD event logs (DES-OFB).
Any other areas doing this for fire paging?
Hope this isn't going to be the new trend
That's kind of weird eh... Encrypt the paging talkgroup yet everything else is in the clear.

Re-programming is very time consuming. I'm assuming they'll eventually encrypt everything. They have to start the process somewhere.

Yeah, i think most edits are formatting changes
I’ve always wondered. Trying to keep up with any control channel frequency changes makes my head hurt. When I first had a Pro-96 there were maybe a dozen common control channel frequencies. But now when I travel throughout the state I try to be sure I’ve updated each tower before I go.

Thanks!

Oh if anything we change even down to spelling, when you click the tower site link - under the Name column, if we changed anything there it will trigger it going green, then yellow after 24 hours.

I see MPSCS is listed as a trunked radio system in St Joseph county, Indiana, having MPSCS listed in St Joseph, Indiana, will that turn Indiana green on the update map every time MPSCS is updated?

More frequencies, coming to a site near you:
MPSCS

The MPSCS in conjunction with our vendor Motorola Solutions Inc will be adding channels to the below RF sites. This work will require a site outage which will disconnect all registered portable and mobile subscribers from the site. Surrounding RF sites will provide coverage for mobile subscribers while portable subscribers may experience limited coverage.
To allow for issues such as system usage, dispatch emergencies, and weather events (fading), the window for completing this work is scheduled as follows:
