MPSCS Tac or ITac freqs

I've heard some of the local MPSCS users refer to what seems to be simplex frequencies available on some of the 800 radios.

We had a guy fall several hundred feet down and old mine shaft and the rescuers up on top were talking about using the tac or Itac freq for the rapellers because it was direct and wouldn't have to go to a tower.

Anyone know what these frequencies might be??????

Those are most likely what you're looking for. They are simplex frequencies and would fit well with what you said they wanted to do...

All MPSCS radios have I-call, and I-tac-1 thru 4. All radios have repeater and simplex modes.

All MPSCS towers have I-call and some towers have some additional tac repeaters.

These are analog as well.

In the DB these are listed by county under "state of Michigan"

I think you're right I just found a note that I had left myself and it contained those frequencies.

So do you program them in as an FM frequency??????

Yes. It is FM, but narrowband. No digital here.

This is a good use for any 800MHz non-digital scanner that may be collecting dust. Just know that it will be quieter due to narrower modulation. You may also have to adjust the freq some to get it to fit. Just get as close as you can.

Just remember these are usually used in simplex so range is quite short. In my experience, a portable outside to a control station was only useable for about .5 mile.

The MPSCS radios also have the I-call and I-tac talkaround channels programmed in, so you may hear simplex on both the input and output freqs.
