• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I'm trying to read a mrk scan radio and i have the right radio model # correct. When i go to read the radio the Radio box pops up and MDX is in the model number box. and an error message comes up after the radio is read and says wrong model number. I defaulted the right model MRK-Scan and the MDX still shows in the box after radio is read.
I also tried reading a Jaguar 700P. Any help on correcting this problem would be appreciated.

Thanks

What Version of Programmer are you using and is it EDACS programmer or Conventional programmer? Does the Jag come up with MDX in the model box as well?

One thing you might try is setting the default radio model to one of the models you have, then close the program and reopen it and retry.

Re-Programming

Hi Nathan, It looks like the version I have is 17 Programmer/Conventinal Programmer.

yes, When I tried to read the Jag radio the MDX also comes up.

I used this software once before to read that same MRK radio and it work fine.

I deleted the software from my laptop and re installed it. I won't be able to try again until Sunday when i go back to work. Right now I sent my Jag back to FMR to get fixed. Remember a week ago I had the problem trying to get the radio in program mode. I just bought that radio last week from FMR. If I get my radio back before Sunday I will see if the software works on mine. If not I will try the radios I have at work and see if I can read them again.

Thanks for your help and I will keep you posted.

Thanks
Dan
