Hal , here
I live in Petal, a small town outside of Hattiesburg.
I monitor the Jones County TRS, Lamar county TRS, and the Forrest County TRS.
All three systems are crystal clear on my BC 246T
I also sometimes crank up my old Bearcat 800XLT and listen to some lo band and some high band systems in surrounding counties.

Name here is Jimmy...

I'm in Gautier (Jackson County)

I monitor and operate on the Jackson County TRS and also monitor the Harrison County TRS. I like to listen to the Aviation band, Utility/Military HF, and Amateur HF bands. Scanners I use are the Uniden BC-246T and Radio Shack Pro-95, and in the car a Uniden BC-785D. I use a Motorola 800mhz Spectra and a MTX8000 handheld for Jackson County.

For HF I use a Kenwood TS-450 in the shack, and now (as of this week) my new Yaesu FT-100D mobile HF/VHF/UHF radio in the car, portable or from my bedroom. Also in the car for monitoring/operating on the amateur VHF/UHF bands I use a Yaesu FT-8900r and a Yaesu FT-60r handheld. I can usually be found monitoring and talking on the 147.375 repeater in Gulfport. It's coverage is from Magee all the way down into the Sound of Mississippi, as far east as Baldwin County AL, and West as Hammond LA. We're also on Echolink via KA5VFU-L.

For mil-aero and wide-band monitoring I have a Yupiteru MVT-7100 portable.

Check'n in

I'm Zach. Originally from Birmingham, I'm in Grenada now. Right now my only listening equipment is a Kenwood TH-79A HT, so no 800MHz or lo-band for me. Mostly I listen to the Grenada city/county police. Everything else seems to be out of band or out of range, so to speak. Sometimes I'll peek in on the FMRS channels as some local young 'uns seem to use them on a regular basis. Those convos get interesting!

Hey MississippiPi!

If you get a chance to nab the tones for Co-Lin, the new CCSO repeater, and the tones for Georgetown VFD, please do so. TY!:D

Thank you for the compliment, and Its a joy to keep the info flowing! Been into this since I was 10. If I could ever find out who the second guy back in the 90's was with me that helped get the Jackson EDACS completely figured out I would love to shake his hand irl LOL! It took us 5 years to get it down to the right LCN's on BOTH sites! I worked back then with an PRO-2052, and an PRO-94 *Original*....

I bet that was a chore figuring out the Jax EDACS groups and such. The 2096 in conjunction with Win96 and this sites database made it very easy to get up and running. The last scanner I had was a Pro-92 but lost interest when Hinds Co. went digital. I was able to get my hands on a 2096 for under $350 and I could not pass that up. Looks like when MWIN is up and running I may be investing in a BCD996T to keep up with the 700Mhz freq's. :D

In Ridgeland

I'm Rich (I wish!)

I just moved to Ridgeland and have a Uniden BC 780 XLT. I'm in the process of setting up household so I haven't had a lot of time to program it. I use Andy's 780 program and spreadsheet, so if anyone has an xls file they'd like to share, please feel free to send it to:

ms dot scanner at comcast dot net

Looking forward to more interaction with the group.

Rich

Of course to hear Ridgeland and Madison youll need an digital capable scanner. Youll be able to her Rankin County fine, and Madison County fine.... and MHP on the low band. And for now, Jackson. But Jackson will soon join the Hinds County/City of Ridgeland/City of Madison Motorola ASTRO TRS.. JPD we know will use digital... Not sure if JFD will or not. Most likely they also will go digital, but have analog interop with Hinds VFD's.
