I was wondering if anyone knows on the MSHP badge numbers who or what is in the 2000's block of numbers? Over the holiday weekend I heard some troop call 2407 and a 2110 does anyone know who these are?

I've heard the "truck cops" using 1500's in Troop A. Would they differ in number series from troop to troop?

1500 & 1501 used to be the portable scales (CVO's) in Troop A before they got rid of them and created the CVET program.

Don't you think they might just keep their regular trooper number when going to the CVET program? That's what we do in Kansas. Once you get your radio number, it's yours until you retire no matter where you go.

I know Missouri used to change your number as you got promoted. Lower number meant a higher rank, but I think they've stopped doing that now.

The highway patrol gives you a badge number and that is yours until you retire UNLESS you become a high rank officer meaning LT. or Capt. (which means you are off the roads and working inside Troop HQ) or run all the way up to rank of Major (Jefferson City).

Troopers when they first go on the road, and receive the rank or Cpl., or Sgt. they are somewhere between 100 on UP. Keeping their same badge number through all three steps if they receive the promotion.

Lt., Capt., Major. Are assigned from 3 - 99

Asst. Col.- 2

Col.- 1

Hope this helps some to the questions about the block of numbers for troopers.
