I would welcome any tips or suggestions on the operational side of the MSJ-461 having placed an order for
one this week. Even just plan common sense stuff is ok!-Pete

CW readers, whether hardware (like the MFJ unit above) or software based (like CW-GET) can pretty easily be defeated by noise, poor sending habits (what we hams call a 'poor fist') or just lousy propagation. Better to get one of the many CW tutorials and teach your ear to copy. Much better results in the long run

If you want to get the best cw decodeing software buy multipsk it outperforms every other software out there in my opinion I have used it in Windows and Linux after reconfigure asla in winetricks
I tried it instead buying the same model you got I just thought it could help you out if you do not like the standalone and it's only 30 euros good luck

Yeah as Mike said these things are junk. They need the 'perfect' conditions to decode properly and even then they don't often work.

Thankfully, I don't find CW interesting whatsoever so I have no need.

You might consider putting a dsp audio filter inline to decrease noise that helps with decodeing as well as general listening good luck
