Am I correct that the MSM command can't be sent to the scanner via the rear serial port? I've tried but it fails, just making sure it isn't something I'm doing wrong.

Correct. Rear serial port is for a GPS unit. Only the front USB port can be used for mass storage mode
That's not 100% correct. I can send every other serial command to the rear port and it works. I even have a serial-to-Bluetooth adapter connected to the rear port and can control it with ProScan.

Definitely not correct lol...quantity over quality, I guess. 💩

Anyway, issuing the MSM command without the scanner actually connected to a PC will simply cause it to reboot, no matter how many seconds you use with the command. Is that what you're seeing, or is it not even responding at all to the MSM command issued through your BT/rear port setup?

It does nothing. All other commands work and as I said I can even control it wireless with ProScan using the BT adapter.

My goal was wireless programming. I'll probably spend the rest of the day figuring out I can't do that. :p

It works! I just tested my 536 using the rear port with a null modem adapter. FW version 1.28.16
I take it that you're using ProScan. Does the Scanner Response box show MSM,OK ?
I think you know but a USB cable needs to be connected to the front else when the scanner reboots, it will go back into normal operation.

What port speed are you using?

As far as I recall, the rear serial port cannot be used for programming, as it won't "see" the microSD card. I forgot that's what you were trying to do. So rear serial port only good for remote control.

Ok, I'm done then. It sucks that even my old 780 lets me program wireless.

After pondering over this I realized @GTR8000 is correct, you can't serial into the 536 and see the micro SD card.

So, is is possible to remotely program the 536? Other than physically connecting a computer to it that has ProScan and remote into that.

Right now I can program (and control) the following wirelessly...

SDS200 via the LAN port connected to a WiFi bridge
BCT15 via a serial-to-BT adapter
BC780XLT via a serial-to BT adapter

Wouldn't this work for you...
