MSP 155.19 From State Capitol

Both yesterday and again today I'm hearing MSP covering the State House using frequency 155.19 [173.8 PL]. Discussions are centered around certain events scheduled in the House of Delegates and the state Senate and assignments. This is the first time I've run into this type traffic on this frequency.

I've copied some weak comms over the last few days on 155.19 from Northern Balt Co....was difficult to discern what was being said. Maybe the same activity....or car-car chatting. Have yet to hear anything on 151.475....still hear tac use of 159.405 from time to time.

I have 155.19 as the DGS Police at the State House in Annapolis. I live in Annapolis, but I rarely if ever hear the mobiles - just the base station.

Seems odd that DGS would be allowed to use this freq for ops, given the fact that MSP Annapolis and other area barracks rely on 155.19 for barrack-barrack comms (albeit rare use). Have you captured a PL for DGS?

Related topic....are the UHF freqs for MSP Executive Protection still valid? They were active, at least, when Bob E. was first elected...he was my neighbor up until moving into the Gov's Mansion and I was then able to copy frequent simplex comms from his protective detail.

I've always been under the assumption that DGS in Annapolis uses the 154.80 [114.8 PL] frequency. In fact, I know they do...but...that doesn't rule out their use of 155.19 also although I've only heard MSP on that one. I went ages without ever hearing traffic on 155.19 but for the last week or so it has been busy every day.

Yep -very infrequent use of it for barrack-barrack.....hear a lot of car-car chatter in Balt Co, although I have never bothered to try to capture a PL to see if the cars have the same tone as the barracks - would assume so, but perhaps not.

Dave, ref your question above about Executive Protection freqs. Just today I heard someone testing on 453.35 with a 118.8 PL which fits for what's in the database. The signal was super strong from here. But there was no operational traffic heard on it.

155.19 DGS or MSP

Hello,

I made a mistake when reading my ARC250 - I have 155.19 as DGS Police, but followed by ??? - which means in my shorthand as "could this be ?" I think the freq was gleened from an old list I found online somewhere, and I was intending to investigate further. But instead I spewed misinformation. Sorry!!

On to the real DGS State House Police freq 154.8... From my house 2 miles from the State House, I can only copy the (annoying) base station operator - the portables must be fairly low power. I do occasionally see the DGS Police Ford Explorer lurking in my neighborhood - but never hear him - most likely on a secret run to Wawa!

CA, that's strange that you can't hear the portables/mobiles. They are loud and clear here in Glen Burnie - as is the Baltimore DGS base and mobiles on 155.835.
