All week talk groups D6NORTH and D6SOUTH have been dead with the exception of shift check ins. Today seems they are using D6NORTH for Memorial Day traffic details.

Anyone if 60 and 61 units are being dispatched through GRPD or KCSD?

Traffic has been reducing more and more over the last few years. Most dispatching and status checks are done through their computer (MDT/MDC). I would also expect that their private cell data network services coverage has improved to the point where the radio is used as a backup or in situations where a group needs to stay informed such as crowd control... however, usually a EVENT channel is reserved.

It seems like in the SW Michigan area that the State Police started to be dispatched by the county sheriff of the area that they are patrolling in (other than when they check in and check out; I hear that over the State Police talkgroups). An exception was the Grand Rapids (formerly Rockford) State Police who used the State Police 3069 North talkgroup for their communications. That talkgroup seemed to be fairly active with ongoing dispatching of incidents on the expressways around Kent County and the Grand Rapids City area. The State Police would also be dispatched to major incidents within the city of Grand Rapids. I also noticed that this state police talkgroup suddenly went pretty much dead in recent weeks other than check-ins and check-outs. The word that I heard was their dispatching was shifted off from the State Police talkgroup over to the Kent County Sheriff dispatch and the GR City Dispatch. Since those two particular talkgroups are both encrypted a major portion of the State Police communications in the Kent County/GR area has now disappeared. Perhaps someone else can verify all of this.
