I live in Troy (Oakland County) and whenever I listen to the MSP, the transmissions are always pretty garbled and hard to understand. I use a Radio Shack 800 Mhz antenna. Does anyone else notice this problem? Any suggestions?

In my experience, it depends on the sites you're monitoring. If it's the Detroit or Macomb sub-systems, it's going to be hit or miss. If it's the Romeo, Northville, or Southfield sites (whenever they start using it) then it should com in pretty clearly.

Make sure your DSP firmware is up to date, as this can help as well.

If you are monitoring off any of the simulcast systems the scanner has a problem decoding the signal unless you point a beam at only one tower. The easier solution is to monitor one of the non-simucast sites as Mikey60 mentioned and it will sound a lot better.
Good Luck
