Where can I find a confirmed frequency on MSP Troop D? I have downloaded all the MSP frequencies into by 996XT using proscan, and I have yet to hear anything on Troop D.

I also loaded up a broacastify Troop D feed and listened for what seemed to be a long time and never heard a peep.

It is possible that I might not actually be able to pick them up at all from where I am in W. Mass, but I can get troop A, E, B, C pretty clearly, and even Troop H at a 'usable' strength, but have not even got a hint of anything for troop D yet - so I am not sure if I just can't pull it in or not - or if I am listening on the wrong channels.

Can anyone confirm a specific frequency/TG that is guaranteed to see some traffic for Troop D? I would assume that Troop D is a fairly busy troop and must have a decent amount of traffic.

Well first you have to tell us which frequencies you have. Also if you just have the low band in you wont hear much. For the state police you have to program an 800mhz type 2 system. The 2 control channels for the area mentions are 859.8375 & 859.2875. All the talkgroups are located in the database. For the lowband you want 42.46 and also 42.50. 42
46 is used quite often in the new Bedford area. Let me know how you make out.

OK, thanks - it looks like I have those programmed in, but perhaps its just too far - I thought I might get a stray signal or two anyway.

Question though, only those channels (which I downloaded directly from RR db), most all my SP trunked frequencies are tagged as 'CUSTOM' sitetype, and then have a 'Band Plan' entered. But for this site, it does not, its just labeled 'Standard', and the 'Band Plan' button is hidden - could this be the problem perhaps? (in addition to the fact that I am so far away).

If you are in Western MA then you will not get anything from D-Troop. D Troop Trunked ops are primarily on Zone (Sites) 3,4 & 6 with D-Patrol 1 also on Zone 5.

As Kenny stated, you will only get Adjacent Troops to the Tower you are listening to.

So in B-Troop, your adjacent troops are C and E
and in C-Troop, your adjacent troops are A, B, E, H

OK, thats probably the part I was not understanding - so when I am hearing troop "A" or "H", I am probably hearing them because I am keyed in on the tower for "Troop C", which is close enough? To heard troop D, I would need to be able to tune in tower "H". So I am hearing "H" now, not because I can reach the tower, but because I can reach the "C" tower...

That make more sense now. I was wondering why it was that I can hear MSP troopers, in their cars, driving on RT 95/128, but that is likely because the traffic is actually being routed to the Troop C tower that I can hear, correct?
