Why would any public safety agency go on a business freq? Sounds like Joe the radio man sold them something they should not be on. They are far enough was from other areas that they can get some 12.5 licensed coordinated UHF public safety channels.

That's a good question. However, there are numerous agencies on the business band.

Pequannock PD is on 453MHz
Med Channels are 462-463MHz
Butler is on 453MHz

The list goes on...................As long as their licensed it's legal.

there are numerous agencies on the business band.

Give or take one or two channels/steps at the ends, 453.0125-453.9875 is public safety (PW) just like 460.0125-460.6375. The med channels, from 462.95-463.175, are also PW, along with the +5MHz pairs for all the ranges mentioned here.

There isn't as much interleaving at UHF as there is at VHF, but there is still some and the business/industrial pool isn't continuous from 450 to 470.

Did anyone hear any interops on MIRS?

When I was a member of Flanders as an EMT, a lot of our members were afraid to use the radio giving the whole county can hear you.
