A "simulated terrorist attack" on Baltimore's transit system will be staged this weekend as part of a training exercise for first responders, according to the Maryland Transit Administration.
More than 100 emergency responders with the MTA and other partner agencies — including the Baltimore Fire Department, the Baltimore Police Department's bomb squad and the American Red Cross — will participate in the drill, which will center around the State Center metro station, the MTA said Thursday.
The drill — funded by the state and a $78,593 grant from the Department of Homeland Security — will begin at 9 p.m. Saturday and last through 3 a.m. on Sunday, the MTA said.
The station is located in the city's Madison Park neighborhood in central Baltimore, north of the University of Maryland Medical Center's midtown campus.
