The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I recently obtained a MTR3000 that needs to be setup for Mixed mode and from the looks of it that option from Motorola is not possible to purchase any dealers out there to sell a Dynamic Mixed Mode EID for an MTR3000 HKVN4044. also the firmware is at R01.06.22 and I can not seem to upgrade it using the CPS 16.0 with the supplied firmware availible from Motorola wich starts at 2.10

Time to bite the bullet and get CPS 2.0 to update to newer firmware.

Looks Like you have multiple problems here --

R01.06.22 is Vintage 2009. You probably need to get that repeater to R01.12.17 before it can jump to R02.anything. But since I have not done a jump this big in a long long long time, I am not positive about that.

Any Firmware in the R01 family, and R02.09 or older needs a version of CPS (n-16) to install/update configurations. R02.10 and newer must have the second-generation CPS 2.0. I think CPS 6 was the Version with R01.06.

If the firmware is that old, then the repeater has not been PMed in a long time and you may have any number of dried CAPs and other issues that the power supply in that unit. The MTR-3000 is famous for power supply failures as they age.

You will not be able to activate the EID in CPS 16 even if you were able to source a Mixed Mode EID. EID license activation with the older CPS 16 and below is no longer an option with Motorola.

As mentioned above - you're going to need to work in CPS2 in order to upgrade firmware, and R 2.10.x is as high as you can go without buying a SUM License.
