If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello everyone, I am having trouble with the installation of the latest 2.0 CPS for the MTS 2000. When the program goes into auto launch install everything looks to be going to work well and then I get to the error messages that go something like this... the first message says something to this effect... it rambles off something about any USB serial port, and also it states that if I have an application launcher running or another CPS program running in the system tray that the program will not be able to install... and then after clicking okay on that error message I get another error message telling me that there is another CPS program or launcher running in the system tray and the installation must abort... and that's pretty much as far as I've gotten. The only other software I have on this particular computer is a CPS program for the HT models, and I have made sure that that program is not running in any way... at least that I can fail... and please use my ignorance but what is a system tray? I always thought it was the quick backs stray at the bottom of the screen where the start menu is... however as far as I can fail there is no other Motorola programs running while I'm trying to install the software, and at this point I have pretty much tried everything... FYI I am running this software on an older XP machine, however I have tried it on another machine and I got the same errors... can anyone tell me how to fix this problem or possibly give me some insight as to what may be wrong and how I need to correct it? I would greatly appreciate anyone's help and time. Thanks.

Give Motorola a call. They've always been helpful to me when I've run into an install or use issue on any of their products I've purchased.

Software install problem??

I was unable to get any resolution through these means... I would appreciate if anyone else can possibly give me some insight as to why this program will not complete its install... I can give it to the point where it starts to boot and shows a picture of the radios with the CPS logo and then it goes to a blue screen and gives me the two errors that I explained above.. tells me something about the system tray and also something about a serial port which I have nothing connected to it this time... and I have cleaned out the system tray and there still seems to be some type of problem... any ideas anyone?? Thanks

Sounds like perhaps the software is corrupted on the installation media ... perhaps getting a new copy from Motorola is in order.
