• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

New to the forum, seems there are people here who know what they're about.

Here's a conundrum!
I have an MTS2000 model H01RDD9PW1BN: flash code 001008-000000-0
(I've attached a .CPG file renamed as .Doc...... so rename back to .CPG (it might work)) !

I have re-programmed mode A with the 8 446 Mhz PMR frequencies and a further 8 with a DLP code
Mode C I have programmed with the amateur 70 cms band U272 - U288.
I'm pleased say these are working fine.
Mode B however I intend to use on amateur repeaters, but have come up against a problem I can't resolve.

I have programmed the input and output frequencies as Rx 430.670Mhz & Tx 439.670Mhz cctss (PL) 82.5

I can hear other stations, the repeater can be accessed, but my voice is all but inaudible to other listening stations.
I can Tx to the input perfectly and I can Tx on the output perfectly. However through the repeater audio gets lost. My Yeasu 817 works the repeater just fine.

Has anyone come across this before?

Most of the channels in Group B are assigned to conventional personality "1."

Other than that, you have the TX deviation set to narrow band (2.5 kHz). Most ham band stuff is not narrow band. Try changing that to 5 kHz and see if that helps.

Also, your TX and RX frequencies are not exactly "right" on pers 151. You have them as 438.6700 RX and 431.6750 TX. It is listed as "TEST" in your zone assignment, so I guess you're just testing. GB3-NS seems to be right, except for the narrow band thing. Change to 5 kHz and I'd bet that will fix you up.

A lot of ham repeaters are old/re-purposed equipment, most of which hasn't been properly tuned/aligned as well as being wide-band only. Let us know if that fixes the issue.

Thanks for getting back

band b personalities are set the same just to prevent out of band transmissions on previous programming and yes, per 151 is just a test setting.

I set the Tx deviation to 25Khz ......... No. still no audio.
I thought about reverse tones from the repeater muting the mic, but I think my programming negates that happening

Hmm. Ok I'll have a twidle around the appropriate allignment, after I've saved the current set up!
Odd that both radios exhibit the same behaviour.
Also got to try them out on another repeater.

If I resolve it I'll post a report.

Well its been a while, but I have now resolved the issue.
Turns out the repeater was playing up. GB3NS had a few updates around that time and had a peculiar desensitising problem associated with its digital side.
Radios worked OK on other repeaters.

So all was well after all.
Many thanks to those who helped.
