• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Our department uses the MTS2000 model radios, a few of which are the type I, top display, models. Recently, on one of these models, the display has flipped (it now displays the channels upsidedown from what is was for years previous). No one is quite sure how it happened, and no one knows how to fix it. Any thoughts?

Try holding one of the side buttons down. It has been too long since I set one up to recall exactly but I think it's a programmable function.

It is a programmable function. Typicially it is a "push and hold" function of one or more of the buttons. Unless you can read the radio or have one of the archives of the codeplug to put in RSS/CPS it will be a hit or miss kinda thing.

I figured it was a button thing, but I've pushed and held every button in every combination and nothing is working so far.

As far as manuals go.... I'm not sure why but they're really hard to find at all for motorolas, and when I do the mts2000 is never one of them. I'll try calling, I guess, just figured someone here might have had this issue before.

Thanks.

of course as soon as I post that, I push the buttons again for one last try and now it's fixed. I didn't do anything different than what I did yesterday, guess the timing just wasn't right!

If this does happen to anyone else, push and hold the black button on the left side just above the PTT button (the one with two raised bumps on it).

On all the Motorola top display models, push and hold the blue button on the side of the radio ( side button 1) for >2 seconds and the display will flip.

and with a Visar you push both channel buttons at the same time, but this has to be turned on in RSS, otherwise it won't work.

Usually the blue button is set for light, but whatevere button is set for light on, as mentioned above, hold it in for several seconds and the display should revert. When use normally , just a touch it turns display light on and off, when held in it inverts/ reverts light
