Hi all.
Is it possible to have a multiple antenna set up, using mono band antennas to support all frequency or scanner bands on a 796D? If so, will the scanner be able to recognize which antenna to use when a certain band is monitored?
I have accepted the fact that no one antenna will cover the whole band spectrum. And even though, the Scantenna has come very close in my opinion, it still lacks the pulling power on UHF frequencies. So if I can continue using the Scantenna on the VHF-Lo, VHF-Hi and 800 and get a special tuned antenna for UHF, I will do just that.
I thank you all in advance for what information you can provide me.

Youll have to get a multicoupler,.. and manually tune to each ant as you need it. As far as I know there is no scanner madethat can automatically select what ant to use,... Unlike Commercail, and Public Safety Systems that have special detectiion gear that will iether tell you which cell/site/transmitter-reciever is the best for the signal, and iether automatically switch, or tell you to switch over....

Rather than switching you can install a tri-band MAXRAD MAXSCAN1000 and if you need low band you can install it on the same mast using 75ohm coax and a regular TV/VCR type splitter. If you use an antenna dedicated to the frequency you monitor you will get less intermod etc from other freqs. An antenna that covers ALL freq could allow Ham, FMBC, CB, and other junk to go down your coax you dont really need. Regular TV type ABC swithes are rated to 900MHz and work fine if you could get by with doing it manually. The 2067 antenna at this site is the MAXSCAN1000. www.bncantenna.com
