The easiest way is to run each copy out of a separate folder. There are also ways to run multiple instances out of a single folder so that they can share files, but you have to setup certain parameters in your batch files to distinguish between them. But the bottom line is that yes, it's certainly possible and frequently done.

I regularly run 3 separate copies of DSD+ on the same device, each one set for a different protocol: DMR, NXDN9600 and NXDN4800. Each copy is run independently out of a separate folder. I find it helpful to keep track as I scan multiple frequencies using just one tapped scanner, and in particular when there are multiple protocols on the same frequency (or 'roughly' the same frequency, as the scanner isn't selective enough to distinguish the precise frequency in use across its operating bandwidth).

Are you running a single sdr dongle or two? And have you two completely separate dsd+ folders, no sharing of any files between them?

I'm trying to figure out how to run two copies of dsdplus FL for two different systems. Is it possible?
Just read the docs.

Single-dongle monitoring:

To use a single device, run the 1R.bat file to start DSD+,
then run the appropriate batch file for your device:

DVB-T dongle: FMP24-CC.bat

Airspy: FMPA-CC.bat

SDRPLay: FMPP-CC.bat

...

If you have a second SDR device, you can run the 1Ra.bat file and the appropriate FMPx-VC.bat
file and simultaneously monitor a second trunking system or site or conventional channel(s).

To manually tune VC FMPx, press Esc once to take FMPx out of VC mode.

I tried doing this from two separate folders, two dongles, one monitoring a CAP+ system, the other scanning round some unknown freqs. It worked fine for "live" listening but not when listening back to recordings. Very choppy audio and plenty of computer resources available (SSD in the PC too)
Never got to the bottom of it...

Running 8 instances of dsdplus off one folder no issues

I run two instances in one folder, and see one "issue" from time to time (it's noticeable to me but I haven't confirmed it causes any problems yet): After a few hours of operation, the two instances seem to get into a contest to see who can save/load my groups and radios files the most. Kind of a dueling-banjos thing where one instance saves the files, the other one loads it and then re-saves it, and then the first instance sees that the files are newer than its last save, and reloads them, and then saves them again, and so on...

Yes I have that issue top. I've noticed when I need to make any changes to radio files I have to shut down everything. Make the changes then start dsdplus up again, otherwise any changes get overwritten

Doesn't the scanner restrict you to one service at a time? You could miss a lot like that.
