OK, I have my 396 and programmed with 10 different sets of tones used on a local channel. With all 10 being set up on the same freq/mode/attenuation the radio scans thru them waiting for a call.
On another list it was mentioned that the 396 actually checks the various tone-out tone sets in sequence as it sits on the channel. Since it checks sequentially there is a good chance that one would miss a tone-out for say Mt. Pilot if the radio happened to be checking for the tones used by Mayberry while the tones used for Mt. Pilot are going out.
The question here then is: Does the 396 actually check for the tones sequentially or will it open on any valid tone it is programmed for on that channel no matter what the display says?
I have heard it described both ways, and am currently trying to figure it out myself but the activity level here seems to be too low.
