That depends on a few things: How far along they are before the license appeared being one huge one! Have they begun site construction? Have they given the contract to anyone yet? Do they have full funding for it? How far along has a new dispatch center gone? Will this be linked to TACN by ISSI or be a outright TACN site owned by Murf?

@milf

The only thing I know right now is that the new PD HQ is still bare bone girders from what the building used to be. Couldn't tell you about anything else about sites and such. I'll have to talk my MPD buddies.

Also I'm curious, what makes the current system suck?

Just like with any outdated analog system it is going to have some dead spots which it does (SO, county fire more then anything or at least what I remember when with rescue) I can remember a couple of times MPD units calling for backup but dispatch could barely pull him out of the static (2 or 3 years ago) and many situation like that with SO.

With digital you are less likely to have that problem. Any word on if this is just going to be city, county joining in sometime? I am all about officer safety, if an officer has trouble getting back to their dispatch then that is a problem.

I work with a guy that is an Murf Fire/PD dispatcher. I'll find out what I can next time I see him. He only works with us part time, so I don't know when that will be.

The SO still sucks. I work in lascassas and even with the radio in my truck, I get mostly static all the way down 96. When the signal is somewhat OK, volume is extremely low. Have to turn the volume to 75% or better to hear them.

Then they are going TACN. In a couple of years as part of the Middle Tennessee's Regional TRS

I have only been into scanning and amateur radio for a few years now so I have little experience in this field.

To me, MPD's radio system seems to work pretty good. There's occasions where officers may have to repeat their traffic every now and then but I guess at anytime that could end up being fatal during a situation. Officer safety is priority.
Either way, I have a lot of contact with guys from the PD and SO so I've been asking them about the new system. One said they don't think they'll encrypt, but who knows. Don't know if SO is a part of the new system but that low volume is ridiculous. They have to crank up the volume in their vehicles.

Any activity yet?

Anyone picking up any CC yet? I have been working in the Murfreesboro lately at night and I'm not hearing a peep on the MPD west freq 460.35, just on the east of 460.375.

I heard dispatch tell one unit to switch to west, but I never heard anything on the other freq so I thought it was on the TRS and so I programmed all the 700mjz freq as CCs as a new TRS, p25 auto and not picking anything up/no CC data.

Control Channel is Live!

770.11875

PS: Analog conventional dispatch still going normal.

I see some stuff Encrypted under details. Hope they don't go that way at least for dispatch primary(-ies)

(Ignore the Stream Connected, would not broadcast anyways)
