Thanks unitcharlie. I am not finding the new digital channel on that site. The old frequency according to that site is what I currently have stored in my scanner but the Murray Police Department recently got a new digital frequency last month. Do you have access to that information?

Thanks!

I found the frequency that you were talking about (thank you). I have a PRO-2018 scanner from RadioShack. I assume this scanner can't pick up digital frequencies since it is a few years old. What scanner would you recommend me getting from RadioShack that would allow me to pick up 460.3625? Is this an encrypted channel or would I be able to listen to it as soon as I got a new digital scanner?

Thank you

Scannermaster (an rr.com partner) has the PSR 500 on sale ($449.95 bucks); the Uniden 396T isn't on sale at 495.95... Rat Shack has the PRO 106 and PRO 197 on sale at $399.99 each and the PRO 2096 at $249.97--all until 03 Jan 2009 (the 106 and 2096 are indicated as out of stock on line; I didn't see the PRO 96 on the web site).... I'd recommend the 500 or 106 over the others because it is a newer radio and there have been some serious mprovements sionce the 96/2096/396 hit the market.... Uniden has a new digital scanner coming out next month.... Don't know about encryption, but don't count it out.....

Since they don't use it all the time I am going to go ahead and purchase a PRO 106 and see what kind of luck I have. Do know if other agencies in Murray and Calloway County plan on going digital any time soon? Thanks for the info.

other then KSP not at this time... i have heard from mayfield EMS/Fire in graves say that they was getting a digital repeater but they belive that they are keeping the same VHF freq. they wasnt for sure about the freq or band but know they are getting a digital system after the city get all the bids. also the marshall county sheriff was saying not to long ago that he is wanting to go digital but due to the amount of money it takes not sure when that will be.. right now sounds like a lot of people wanting to go digital just need to find the money to do so. if your wanting a new scanner and plan on using it for a while digital is the best way to go for around here at least.

What does the NAC 293 mean? Did you have to use a special device to de-encrypt the channel or was it already made available to listen to?

Nac

On the new GRE500/600 radioshack pro-106/197 the NAC is the squelch code for a P25 system. That way you can tell who it is KSP Post 6 and Murray as both use the same frequency. (NAC=Network Access Code)
If you are running a Pro-96 or a Pro-2096 this option does not work for your scanner.

Has anyone monitored this system via digital scanner? I've caught it online via Streamwebtown.com a few times, yet it doesn't sound good at all. I assume the feed from this is coming from a digital scanner and I wondered how it normally sounded since I don't have one. I've also heard Murray State and Calloway County on there as well and they sounded fine.

I have a digital scanner and the Murray PD is not as plain as Murray State or Calloway SO. I really don't know what the deal is but it is not that bad. You defintely have to pay closer attention to what Murray is saying than you do say Murray State because of the fuzziness.

Right here...
But the flip side is if all you listen to digital communications everyday and you get used to not having any static and the other garbage on an analog signal and it gets to sounding very good. Then you travel and listen to analog for awhile and you think it sounds bad, its all in the digital to analog converter and the settings that have to "tweak" the conversion, and lastly not leastly your ear and its "tuning".
