BETHESDA, Md. -- Police are investigating a fatal wreck that took place on the Capital Beltway's Outer Loop at River Road in Bethesda early Monday morning. Maryland State Police said a heavy-duty truck was stopped on the side of the road when a car carrying three people slammed into it and overturned just before 1:30 a.m.

Police said the car had apparently been speeding, lost control and rolled several times before striking the truck.

Two men in the car were killed. The victims have been identified as Mateo Rios, 21, of Falls Church, Va., and David Castro, 22, of Alexandria, Va.

The third person was transported to a nearby hospital. There has been no word on that person's condition.

The truck, which also had a car-carrying trailer attached to it, had two people in it at the time of the incident. Neither person inside the truck was hurt.

All but one lane along River Road had been closed but have since reopened.

there was no mention of priority 4 patients until just before command was terminated...so it sounded like there were two pri2 and one pri1 until command was terminated and the two pri4s were announced. likely, the two pri2s were mis-triaged and downgraded [upgraded?] as the scene was being managed.

news reports said the car had been traveling in excess of 100mph before losing control and striking the parked truck. it was eerie listening to MSP arrange notifications...i don't usually have very good MSP reception (800mhz rubber duckie from RS) but i happen to live 1mi from this scene.
