The welding rods are about $18.00 for 3 or 5 lbs(I can't recall)(they have been laying in the garage a few years)the 1/2" alum stock I already had,had to spec order the allen head set screws(40) for $5.00,and other assorted S/S hardware, about $3.00.
It is a very labor consuming job!(cutting the element blocks, lots of tapping the 10/32 threads, and drilling the element holes)Patience in getting the right angles!
I left the cone elements full length of the rods(36"),and each disc element is 13"I beleieve.
I also had to cut out a special piece of the alum stock to mount the support pipe with, which is held in place by the SO-239 connector,in turn, with S/S screws which bolt into the support pipe.
I was just going to build another 8 element discone at first, but decided to go for the 16 element.
16 elements(784") gave me more surface area than the store bought 8 (336")element kits.If I calculated this right.
Bondo filled skoal can insulator I already had!
Everything is weather proofed with black silicone.
