mparker, welcome.

You can start by reading the following article from the wiki. There is a link there for the PDF file from our own Paul Opitz of Uniden that introduces the concept of trunking very well. Another link describes getting a premium subscription that allows you to download data from the database. Please go into your user profile and supply the county/state of where you live.

If you go to that state's forum, you might find folks that have UASD (Uniden Advanced System director) or ARC files that you can use as an import source. Just be careful with the ARC import as it will not always supply all the information you need to set up.

Finally we have the user manual for FreeScan in our wiki. It will guide you as to the basics of how to set it up for programming. The link is below;

Finally bookmark this article. It's a FAQ for the DMA radios, of which the BCT15 is one. There are a lot of options and other things that are new, and this will start to explain many of them. Don't be concerned about the terminology for now - just keep it handy so when you're ready to tackle them, you have it...

thanks for the fast good info...

i went a head and became a subscribing member, that took care of my programing problem... pretty easy... but now i want to learn what i just did..lol

i guess i need to read up on the terminologys and how they all work...

thanks so much...

on a side note...

when i imported into freescan lets say i selected my local county PD but in the groups it also includes the water dept, can i just go into freescan and delete the whole water dept group without disrupting anything? (hope that makes sense)

You can delete or lockout groups you are not interested in, and it wont hurt anything.
