Operating on GMRS frequencies. I'm just working with the radio and nothing else...no external antenna. Every time I key up my PS2 goes nuts. I know the obvious solve to the problem--move away from the PS2.

I'm looking for a solution to minimize or eradicate the interference without having to move away from the PS2.

Thoughts? Ferrite choke somewhere.......I dunno.

EDIT: Interference occurs when the radio is near the controller.

most likely the problem is a lack of adequate shielding in the PS2 itself, you can try some chokes but since you are operating on UHF frequencies, UHF can find it's way into/out of stuff with ease.

Bottom line is you're gonna just have to keep the two apart. Remember your HT1000 operates at RF power levels that are not likely to be found in a consumer environments, it's an industrial radio.

Question, isn't the ht1000 a five watt radio and as such, other 5 watt radio could create some interference. The ugly head of interfernce comes along as the most unopertune times. Usually its just a harmonic deal. Hf radios, usually get into the stereo, either the speakers or the amp. Scanner is affected by an ht or my base radio, when i happen to go by a harmonic frequency. .mts2000des suggests adequate sheilding, which would improve or cut out all interference. Course tin foil wrapped around the ps2 might look funny, wrapped on the inside would work as long as the tin foil doesn't short out on the guts of the ps2.. I have done the tin foil on something, on the inside, i had spray adhesive, sprayed the inside then laid down sheets of tin foil. Courtse if the kids are playing on the ps2 and daddy wants to talk, tell them times up, daddys talking now.

I guess the first question to be answered would be, how near?

It may simply be unreasonable to expect a Playstation to be completely immune to RF overload. If you're having trouble when you're across the room, there are probably things you can do. If you're talking 6 or 12 inches, then back off, you're just asking for trouble.

How far away must you be before the thing settles down?
