Please help. When my Icom IC-2730 scans across memory channels and stops on a transmission, it only remains on that channel for about 4 seconds.

After 4 seconds, it resumes scanning. I tried longer settings in the PAUSE and RESUME in both the Main Menu and the EX-menu. I even set them both to "HOLD". ...No effect. In all cases the scan only stops for 4 seconds, then resumes.

Is there some setting I don't know about? What am I over-looking? Any help appreciated!

Both resume holds have the note: "The Resume Timer must be set shorter than the Pause Time, otherwise this timer does not work properly". You may be trying an incompatible combination.

What kind of scan are you trying to do? How long do you want it to pause, and how long after the signal stops do you want it to wait before resume? It looks like you have to set the scan pause to a discrete time frame if you want the option to override with the dial. You can have it pause until the signal disappears, but it must have someway to continue scanning. A scan full-stop at the first signal is not one of the use cases.
