Got the idea from another RR member who posted some pictures a few months back. Now everything is practically at my fingertips.

Rundown of equipment...

Top Row: PRO-96, PRO-94, FD-150A 2mtr HT, FD-450A 70cm HT, PRO-37 (sometimes it works, sometimes is doesn't) and a PRO-97.

In the middle is my Kaito KA1102 for Shortwave. (A DX-440 is on the way, but it won't fit there LOL)

At the bottom: PRO-137, BCT15, and a Yaesu FT-2800M 2mtr mobile being used as a base.

Using the stock antennas for the handhelds at the moment due to restrictions from my landlord. The BCT15 is hooked up to a mag-mount scanner antenna setting in my window. The 2800M is hooked to a J-Pole sitting in the corner of the room.

Im getting a Yaesu ft2800. Need to modify it so it will transmit on all freq. My girlfriend is a member of a rural Fire Dept and i want to program in her freq. It needs to be able to transmit in case there is an emergency we come up on. Can't just cut thegreen wire on this one. Something needs to be unsoldered and i'm not comfortable doing it. I'll pay.

Not the thing to mention on this board.
What you are asking for isn't legal. Really. It isn't.

Ditto. It's an unauthorized mod and the radio is not type-accepted, therefore it is illegal to transmit anywhere but 144-148 Mhz.

nothing prevents you from using a mod such as this in an emergency, as he says he wants to do.

Why do you need to mod your radio???......Your girlfriend is the FF, not you. I've been in the fire service +33yrs and used my dept issued radio all of twice to report an "emergency". Dial 911 like everyone else.
Since you've had your ham license all of 6 days, I question your intent.

Nice set up, but hardly your last. It's never the last!! :)

Btw....I think a mod radio comes in a package with red lights behind the grill on eBay. Oh, and oh yeah referral to a good attorney! :)

It is still illegal to modify a radio. It loses its FCC approval once you modify it to do things it isn't supposed to do.

I have a mod-ed radio, no special lights on my car, and no special attention drawn...

FWIW, I didnt perform the mod, it was done before I got the radio, so dont assume that add modded radios are owned by whackers that have problems obeying the rules.

Very true, but I am hoping to use this particular set-up for quite a while. I've got everything where I want it.

Of course once a couple more radios get tossed into the mix that will make the strip the handhelds are on too short and then I'll have to come up with something else.

However, funds for any "extras" are kinda short around my household at the moment, so I don't foresee any new radios joining the stable anytime soon :) :D

That's a sweet setup. But I was wondering what is the point of so many scanners? I am new to scanners and just got my first one less then a week ago, but was just wondering.
